Tragic Suicide of Nasarawa State University 100 Level Student Stuns Community

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 100-level female student, identified as Maikeffi Redemption Sarah, studying Microbiology at Nasarawa State University (NSUK), Keffi, reportedly took her own life at the age of 21. She was not only the youngest but also the fourth and final child in her family.

The tragic incident unfolded on a Friday evening at an off-campus lodge near the Family and Friends Hotel area, opposite Nasarawa State University, Keffi. According to reports from 1 Naija News Extra Media, Sarah consumed a poisonous substance, succumbing to the depths of emotional turmoil and depression.

Her male friend, who shared the devastating news on Facebook, verified the incident over a phone call, expressing shock and disbelief. The friend recounted that they had spoken on Thursday evening, with plans for Sarah to travel from Keffi to Akwanga for a wedding on Saturday, intending to return on Sunday. The sudden and unexpected loss left him and others in profound grief.

Despite the distressing situation, attempts were made by fellow students and neighbors to intervene and save Sarah. Palm oil was administered, but unfortunately, their efforts proved futile.
The lifeless body of the young student has been transported to the mortuary in Keffi. A relative, also taking to Facebook, announced that the burial was scheduled to take place on the same Saturday in Akwanga, Sarah's hometown. The community and university are left grappling with the shock and sorrow surrounding the untimely demise of a promising young individual.
