Senate President Godswill Akpabio Faces Health Scare Following 61st Birthday Colloquium
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, reportedly experienced a health scare on Thursday, December 14, following his 61st birthday colloquium in Abuja.
The Senate President commenced his birthday anniversary festivities on Saturday, December 9, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom, with a large crowd in attendance. Subsequently, on Thursday, the birthday colloquium took place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.
According to multiple sources, after the event, Akpabio collapsed while seated in a chair. Witnesses claimed that he appeared tired, and the sudden incident prompted an immediate rush for medical attention.
One source stated, “The Senate President must have been tired. He was seated after the colloquium, and the next thing was that he had slumped. It was when people saw that he had slumped that he was rushed for medical attention.”
Another source reported, “After the Senate President escorted the President alongside some other senators, he came back and sat down when he slumped. He was resuscitated and then rushed to a private hospital not too far from Transcorp. He is still in the hospital.”
Contrary to these reports, one of the Senate President’s media aides, Jackson Udom, refuted the claims, stating that there was no such incident, and at no time was Akpabio wheeled out of Transcorp. Udom challenged those spreading the story to provide evidence, saying, “The report is not true. The Senate President didn’t collapse, neither was he wheeled out. Let the people sharing the story provide a picture of such happenings.”
